One of the commissions I've got going on right now

this is a 5 x 7 pencil portrait of a house (yes, there is a face in the trees)

to put that better into perspective, i had to put in all those details with pencil, trying not to smudge it , on a piece of paper barely bigger than my outspread hand, and put in a portrait that is smaller than my thumb.

i have small hands. this was really hard - but i like the results :D would love to do more of these...only bigger. never did a house portrait in pencil before. it was fun :D

lol.....yeah, straight lines....hehee...it was actually easier to do them becuase they were small...now trying to go back and darken them up without them going crooked cause you're going slow....that was harder somehow....

I can totally see that.

I have a really hard time doing straight lines freehanded. Most of the time they're wobbly enough that it's noticeable. Sometimes I get it right. But when I use a ruler to do the straight lines they stand out something fierce from the rest of my lines, so I find myself going over them freehanded anyway to give them a bit of wobbliness. I can't win.

LMAO....thats pretty funny actually...and iknow what you mean! i've done similar. "i cleaned that up pretty well...oh crap. now it doesn't look like part of the picture!"

And then there are the times where I like my pencil lines so much that I almost don't want to ink them (when I plan on coloring them after inking), but the pencil sketch itself is too rough to color on its own. I'm just afraid of killing the pretty lines with the ink. ::sigh::
